Thanks for posting this Jeff, it’s always good to see it again. It is more apposite now than it was when Eliot wrote it. There is even less room for poetry in our lives nowadays than there was then — only tiny scraps of it manage to find their way through the narrowing crevices in a growing glacier of mindless verbiage that is enveloping our lives. As Ted Hughes wrote: “A pen is too light. Take a chisel to write.”
