Have a good weekend! In between family and fun, I’ll be diving into Joomla this weekend.

I remember admiring this photo before.
It’s really so soft, artistic, and I love it!

I have played with Joomla a few times.
It’s a lot of fun, but my one issue so far with it, is, that likely because of my lack of knowledge how to protect my sites, hackers always seem to know how to ‘get in’ via Joomla.

Let me know what you do with it!

Thanks Barbara. As for Joomla, what makes you believe that hackers know how to “get in” via Joomla?

Every time any of my sites were hacked, a change was made in my Joomla [and Mambo too by the way]directory. I never assumed at first the two were connected until my host mentioned if I wasn’t using the Joomla (I wasn’t) to perhaps delete the whole directory.

Now, I prefaced that with “My lack of knowledge” and so I don’t pretend to be an authority. You know me well enough to know I am not.

I can only say, that my experience has been getting hacked and then a change to my Joomla directory. This also happened to a client’s site that we were planning on using Joomla.

Joomla now has a component to protect your site » http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,3897/Itemid,35/

Maybe you don’t even need it, I am guessing you know so much more how to have your entire site protected than I ever would.

So I guess I believe because of experience, the hosting IT suggesting I remove it, and other readings on the subject:
